2019 Summer Camp

WHO?

19 camps for ages 4-14

The age groups for our camps are created to ensure we meet the developmental needs of our campers while also providing a fun and engaging STEM experience for all participants. Please note that to help us in this pursuit, your child should be registered for camps that match their age as it will be on August 31, 2019.

WHAT?

Each week is a stand-alone set of lessons based on a different science theme.

Each camper will receive:

  • Camp t-shirt (one per summer)
  • Morning and afternoon snack
  • Science Center exploration time
  • Outdoor playtime

WHEN?

10 weeks—see schedule below.
Pre-K Camps (ages 4-5) 9am-12pm or 1-4pm
Elementary Camps (ages 6-10) 9am-4pm
Middle School Camps (ages 11-14) 9am-4pm

Extended care is available for Elementary and Middle School camps (before camp from 7:30 to 9am and after camp from 4 to 5:30pm) for only $40/week per child.

WHERE?

Discovery Space is the headquarters for all camps.

HOW?

Registration opens January 23.

  • Full week Elementary and Middle School Camps: $240 member/$265 non-member
  • *2-day Elementary Camp $110 member/$135 non-member
  • **3-day Elementary Camp $150 member/$175 non-member
  • Preschool camps $140 member/$165 non-member

Scholarships may be available for those who need; please email  for information.

Cancellation Policy:

  • If canceling more than 7 days prior to the first day of camp, you may transfer to another session, space permitting or receive a refund less the $50 non-refundable deposit.
  • If canceling within 7 days of the first day of camp, you may transfer to another session, space permitting. No refund requests will be honored.

Pre-K Camps – ages 4-5

Our preschool camps are designed to provide children entering pre-k and kindergarten with an opportunity to engage with STEM subjects through hands-on activities in a supportive environment where they are encouraged to ask questions and practice their problem-solving skills!

H2OhYea!

June 24-28
9AM-12PM

Make a splash while learning about earth’s most precious resource: water. Through play, sensory experiences and engineering challenges, campers will explore the many phases of water!

Animal Safari

July 22-26
2 Identical Sessions: 9AM-12PM or 1PM-4PM

Take a trip around the world! Grab your passport and travel with us as we learn about how penguins walk, frogs eat, chameleons hide, and so much more. Together we will explore amazing animals through maker projects, sensory exploration, and creative play.

STEM Sense

August 5-9
9AM-12PM

Make sense of the world around you using your 5 senses! Campers will investigate their senses through chemistry, color exploration, music, art, and plenty of tactile fun.

Ages 6-10

Our camps for elementary aged children are split into different age groups (JR and SR) depending on the STEM topics that are being addressed each week. Campers will participate in a variety of experiments and activities designed to encourage innovation, inquiry, and collaboration.

Dino Detectives

June 17-21
Ages 6-8

Be part of a paleontology team receiving clues from a dinosaur dig site. Use the clues to discover the identity of a mystery dinosaur that will star in a stop-action movie created by your team.

Innovation City

June 24-28
Ages 6-8

Join us as we explore the technologies that could make up our cities of the future! Learn about circuits and coding, create models that use sustainable energy sources, and more!

Astro Explorers

Senior ages 8-10

Discover what it takes to become an astronaut and explore our solar system through hands-on experiments and engineering challenges. During this three-day camp, learn how astronauts prepare for space and the challenges they face while working on the International Space Station.

STEAM-tacular

Investigate the connections between Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math through fun experiments and creative challenges. From digital design to kinetic sculptures and the chemistry of materials, join us for two days of imaginative explorations!

Chemistry Wonder Lab

July 15-19
Ages 6-8

Ever wonder why ice floats, what makes bread rise or how a battery works? Together we will conduct experiments to answer these questions and many more as we discover how chemistry is an essential part of our lives.

Rube’s Not So Simple Machines

July 29-August 2
Junior ages 6-7
Senior ages 8-10

Bring your creativity and crazy ideas to this week of camp! Explore the physics of simple machines, then work as a team to solve a problem and combine these tools into an inventive Rube Goldberg machine!

Surf, Sand and Sea Life

August 12-16
Ages 6-8

Discover ways to protect our ocean! Learn about how we are connected to the ocean through hands-on experiments and activities. Explore waves, investigate the chemistry of pollutants and interact with live tide pool inhabitants who call the ocean home.

Ages 11-14

These camps have been designed to provide opportunities for middle-school-aged youth to work along with their peers to investigate STEM subjects through experiments and challenges aimed to encourage critical thinking and creative problem-solving.

Make Waves

July 15-19
Ages 11-14

From sound waves to seismic waves, there are wave patterns all around us! Learn about these different wave types through hands-on experiments. Then engineer tools that can generate and detect these waves!

GLOW – Girls Leadership Opportunity Week

August 5-9
Ages 10-14

What does it take to be a leader? Find out this week! Campers will meet with female STEAM leaders in our community and take on experiments and design challenges, which will require teamwork, critical thinking, and creativity.

Be an EnGENEer

August 12-16
Ages 11-14

How do genes control the characteristics of living things? Camper’s will learn about inheritance and how genetic engineers use the properties of inheritance for advancements in biomedical research, agriculture, and more!
