A Limited-time traveling exhibit and pop-up encounter coming to Discovery Space Fall 2019 and Spring 2020!
In Search of Earth’s Secrets is a hands-on exhibit for audiences to enjoy in informal learning environments. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about exciting science topics researched by JOIDES Resolution scientists such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and the extinction of the dinosaurs.
The exhibit consists of 6 interactive kiosks that will be displayed at Discovery Space, Schlow Library and The Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum on Penn State’s campus starting in Fall 2019 and Spring 2020. There will be “passports” and stickers available for visitors to keep track of their progress and make sure they visit all six interactive kiosks!
Community events will feature a 45-foot-long walk-through inflatable model of the JOIDES Resolution research vessel with a video-wall presentation that shows how science allows us to travel back in time and discover what happened in Earth’s past. Events will also feature a 30ft x 15ft floor map of the Earth’s oceans and other interactive activities to explore.
