Summer Camps

 

Are you ready for the perfect mix of science and fun?

Discovery Space is pleased to offer a full schedule of in-person camps for the summer! Each camp is a week-long set of activities based on a unique STEM theme. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt (one per summer), morning and afternoon snack, Science Center exploration time, and outdoor playtime.

Pre-K Half Day Camps: Ages 4-5

STEM Sense: June 20-24

Make sense of the world around you by using your five senses! Campers will investigate their senses through chemistry, color exploration, music, art, and plenty of tactile fun.

Animal Safari: July 5-8

Grab your passport and travel with us as we learn about how penguins walk, frogs eat, and chameleons hide. Together we will explore animals through maker projects, sensory exploration, and creative play.

H2O-Yeah: August 1-5

Make a splash while learning about earth’s most precious resource: water. Through play, sensory experiences, and engineering challenges, campers will explore the properties and importance of water!

Elementary Camps: Ages 6-10

Dino Detectives: June 13-17, 9am-4pm

Be part of a paleontology team receiving clues from a dinosaur dig site. Identify the mystery dinosaur that will star in your stop-motion movie!

Eco Engineers: June 27-July 1, 9am-4pm

Nature needs our help! Design, create, and improve devices that solve environmental challenges.

Code Crew: July 5-8, 9am-4pm

How do robots know what to do? The basics of coding will be at your fingertips as we interact with games, toys, and other everyday things that use code to function.

Chemistry Wonder Lab: July 18-22, 9am-4pm

Ever wonder why ice floats or how a battery works? Experiment to find the answers to these questions and more as we discover why chemistry is an essential part of our lives!

Surf, Sand, and Sea Life: July 25-29, 9am-4pm

Discover how we are connected to the ocean through hands-on activities with waves, the chemistry of pollutants, and live tide pool inhabitants who call the ocean home.

Innovation City: August 8-12, 9am-4pm

Explore the technologies that could make up the cities of our future! Learn about making circuits and coding and create models that use sustainable energy sources.

Topping the Charts: August 15-19, 9am-4pm

Middle School Camps: Ages 11-14

How do genes control the characteristics of living things? Campers will learn about genetic inheritance and then how genetic engineers use the properties of inheritance for advancements in biomedical research, agriculture, and more!

Code Coaches: July 5-8

Interested in computer science and education? Gain experience in simple coding and then interact with our Code Crew camp by sharing your newfound knowledge.

Make Waves: August 1-5

From sound waves to seismic waves, there are wave patterns all around us! Learn about wave types through hands-on experiments. Then, engineer tools that can generate and detect these waves.

Extended care is available from 7:30am before camp and until 5:30pm after camp for an additional $45 per child.

Camps at The Rivet: Ages 11-14

Girls Leadership Opportunity Week (GLOW): July 25-29 & August 8-12

9am-4pm  |  Member & Non-member $285

These camps are designed for females ages 11-14 and will be in partnership with The Rivet, our makerspace! Learn a variety of skills from woodworking to digital design to 3D printing under the instruction of female professionals. Each week will offer different activities but both will have an emphasis on female empowerment and leadership. Full and partial scholarships are available for those with financial need.

Please Note: Enrollment in the August camp is limited by technology. If we can secure funding for additional technology, we will accept additional campers. If the camp is full, please add your child’s name to the waitlist.  

How To Register

Discovery Space members can register for camps starting Fri, Jan 28 at 9am. Non-members can register starting Fri, Feb 11 at 9am. Enter the online registration portal or read the registration instructions.

Please Note: Age groups for camps ensure that we meet the developmental needs of our campers, while also providing a fun and engaging STEM experience for all participants. Your child should be registered for camps that match their age as it will be on August 31, 2022.

Cancellation Policy

If canceling more than 14 days prior to the first day of camp, you may transfer to another camp (space permitting) or receive a refund minus a $50 administration fee.

If canceling fewer than 14 days prior to the first day of camp, you may transfer to a later camp (space permitting). No refund requests will be honored.

Health & Safety

Masks are strongly recommended in the science center and makerspace, especially when in areas of close contact or with young children. Program descriptions will include details if masks are required for participation.
