Our camps, tailored for ages 6-14, offer a diverse array of STEM and Maker programs. Participants engage in high-quality experiments and hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity.

As a member of our summer staff, you will play a crucial role in supporting camp operations. Your responsibilities include facilitating daily activities while ensuring the safety and well-being of all campers.

 Successful candidates will have had experience managing groups of more than 15 children and a background or interest in STEM content. Previous teaching experience is preferred. Successful applicants will be able to commit to the entire summer.

Positions are seasonal and employment starts the week of 6/9/25-8/22/25

Summer Camp Manager 

The summer camp manager works primarily outside of the classroom and will oversee the daily operations of the camp, facility utilization, staff coordination, and communication with parents. Ideal candidates will possess robust organizational, administrative, and communication abilities, along with a background in customer service and a passion for promoting STEM education. 

Throughout the camp day, the individual in this role will oversee adherence to the schedule and provide classroom support as necessary. They will serve as the main contact for parents in case of injuries, illnesses, or behavioral incidents. Additionally, they will greet campers, and engage with parents during afternoon pick ups and ensure the smooth closing of the science center.

This is a leadership role best suited for adults looking to gain experience in team management or program coordination. This is a seasonal, full time position. 

  • 9:00 am – 5:30 pm Mon-Friday
  • $17/hour

Summer Camp Classroom Assistants

Assist with daily experiments and activities, maintaining a safe and fun camp environment. Assistants must commit to at least one of three shifts for the entire 10 weeks of summer. Scheduling is negotiable upon hiring discussion. 

    • Shift A: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Mon-Friday
    • Shift B: 9:30 am – 5:30 pm Mon-Friday
    • Shift C: 8:00 am – 1:30 pm Mon-Friday
  • $15-17/hour
  • Full-time (40 hours/week) and part-time (25 hours/week) positions available
  • Applicants must be 16+ by the start of camp

Summer Camp Interns

Gain experience assisting the Discovery Space team with activities, lesson facilitation, prep and clean up. Interns must be able to commit to at least one of the two shifts available for at least 7 weeks of the summer. Scheduling is negotiable upon hiring discussion.

    • Shift A: 8:30 am – 1 pm Mon-Friday
    • Shift B: 12:30 pm – 5 pm Mon-Friday
  • $14/hour
  • Approx 15 hours/week available
  • Applicants must be 16+ by the start of camp

Marine Life Center Intern

The Marine Life Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented intern to assist in the care and maintenance of our diverse aquatic exhibits. This position is ideal for college students looking to gain hands-on experience in marine animal husbandry and aquatic life support systems.

Interns will work closely with the Marine Life Educator to ensure the health and well-being of the animals in our collection, which includes two freshwater tanks and three saltwater tanks featuring a variety of fish and invertebrates—including a baby stingray. Responsibilities include monitoring water quality, assisting with feedings, performing routine tank maintenance, and supporting overall habitat care.

This role requires a science-driven mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to best practices in animal care. Ideal candidates will have an interest in marine biology, zoology, or a related field and be comfortable working in a hands-on, learning-focused environment.

Interns must be available for at least seven weeks during the summer. The weekly schedule is flexible and will be determined upon hiring.
